Charter:
Unicahome, in its infancy, was just a small shop located in the heart of downtown
Birmingham, Michigan. Without any web presence at all, the owners were hoping to
extend their market far beyond those passersby down Old Woodward Avenue. They
decided to relocate to Las Vegas, touted by many as the “design capital of the universe”,
and enlisted Solvaris to “break ground” on their entirely new digital storefront.

on the Internet, complete with over 9,000 products.
Solution:
Solvaris first concentrated on helping Unicahome develop a Web identity. To support
the site’s contemporary image, Solvaris partnered with Avasio, Inc. to leverage its
award-winning design capabilities. In establishing the online branding strategy for
Unicahome, Avasio provided the client with a new corporate identity, and a
user-driven interface to the online catalog. Its website, a source for both
consumers and designers, presented Solvaris with unique challenges. To meet
those challenges, a custom Microsoft SQL Server database was employed to house
Unicahome’s products and inventory, color and fabric samples and customer orders.
The site is fully updatable through a secure, web-based administration module which
enables Unicahome personnel to modify product descriptions and photos, change prices,
feature products, promote discounted items, and engage with customers via targeted
mass email campaigns.
A full-featured gift registry, with a “Direct Ship” option allows customers to
register for any special occasion. When items are purchased off a gift registry,
the application ensures that registrants do not receive duplicate gifts. Gift
registrants enjoy using the system when it comes time to write “Thank You” notes.
A registrant can login to their account at any time and print a report of their
registry purchase detail, complete with the names and addresses of gift-givers to
assist in the gratitude process.
